I started this blog primarily to document my journey through an incredibly challenging situation I suddenly found myself in. It is meant to encourage and inspire others. I also write on topics of interest, like business and sports, and although I am a political junkie, I decided against writing about politics as it tends to be divisive. This time it’s different…and it’s not about politics. It’s about the devastating effects Donald Trump’s decision to effectively dismantle key provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will have on me and others like me. I didn’t choose to be in this situation, but here is how I got there.

As I got weaker I became increasingly concerned. I visited another orthopedist, and within minutes of examining me stated “you have a neurological problem. I can’t help you with this”. Really?! I thought, “what was the other orthopedic doctor looking at?” “Did I lose three months treating the wrong problem when the actual problem is getting worse?” Now that the problem has been identified as being neurological, I felt better that at least we were getting closer to figuring out the source so the issue can be resolved

I was born in Jamaica and at fourteen years, migrated to the United States. Growing up in a Christian family, church and related activities were an essential part of growing up and I was taught, at an early age, to always trust God, regardless of the situation.

I developed a passion for business and aviation pursued a career that would encompass both fields. I earned a bachelor's degree in Finance, an MBA in Aviation Management, and a Doctorate in International Business. Additionally, I was an entrepreneur, having founded two businesses. Armed with the degrees, and entrepreneurial experience, my goal was to be a researcher and facilitate international business, entrepreneurship and aviation management courses. I obtained a position as a professor at a local university and, as a researcher, often presented the findings of my research at aviation industry and academic conferences.

Affirmations are statements that are declared to be true. Repeating affirmations are an essential component of the healing process and put me in the right frame of mind to receive God’s healing. Following are a few of my favorites, taken from God’s Creative Power for Healing by Charles Capps.

•    Jesus bore my sins in His Body on the tree; therefore I am dead to sin and alive unto God and by His stripes I am healed and made whole. (l Pet. 2:24; Rom. 6:11; 2 Cor. 5:21.)

•    Jesus bore my sickness and carried my pain. Therefore I give no place to sickness or pain. For God sent His Word and healed me. (Ps. 107:20.)

•    Jesus took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses. Therefore I refuse to allow sickness to dominate my body. The Life of God flows within me bringing healing to every fiber of my being. (Matt. 8:17; John 6:63.)

Onwards and Upwards!
